About the work

Rest In Motion considers the space between movement and stillness.

Taking the form of a skateboard, an object associated with motion, play, streets, and youth, the work transforms the deck into a ceramic object meant to be looked at rather than ridden. Layered graphics, repeated Public Nap typography, soft color, and glossy surface interrupt the familiar form, turning an instrument of movement into a place for pause.
The skateboard remains ready to move.
It simply doesn't have to.
